Ballycastle Tennis Club Junior Ladder Rules Start Date : 1st September 2015 - Finish Date 30th November 2015
Initial Ladder positions will be decided by the Club Coach, if you are unhappy with your position on the ladder start challenging – the only way is up !
Challenges may be made one or two places ( max ) above. A Challenge must be accepted within 3 days and played within 10 days of being issued.
Match Format : First to 10 games wins with championship tie - break at 9 all.
Players do not have to use new balls, 2 balls should be used, both players should bring 1 each. If players
cannot agree on balls new ones should be used. There should be no communication between Players
and their Parents / Coaches during matches.
Post-Match Positions: If the higher position player wins the match, there is no change of position. If the challenger wins the match, he or she moves into the loser's position and everyone in between moves
down one place.
Reporting Scores: The parents or guardians of Under 16 junior winners of matches must report scores within
48 hours of the match via the contact form on the junior ladder page of the website. No scores will be accepted directly from Under 16 junior members. Over 16 Juniors can enter their own scores. There is no need to report challenges. If you are unable to use the website please let us know and we will make other arrangements for
you to report your scores.
We will try and update the ladder on the website weekly on a Sunday evening but this may not always be possible. When a challenge is made it is the responsibility of both players to confirm their place on the ladder
so the challenge is valid.
The contact form is for the reporting of results only, no questions or emails about disputes will be answered.
If you are unclear about the rules ask the Club Coach.
If a player receives more than one challenge, they must accept the first one. They do not have to accept any further challenges until the first one is resolved.
To avoid excess challenges against any single player, no player may be challenged within 4 days of having
played any challenge match.
The winner of a match is immune from being challenged for 2 days. This gives the winner the opportunity to issue a new challenge – a winner’s "perk". The loser of a match may not issue a challenge to any other player for 3 days. This gives the winner the first opportunity to challenge above and so avoid the possibility of being "leap-frogged" by the loser. The loser of a match may not re-challenge the winner for 10 days. This gives other players fair opportunity to challenge either player.
If the player challenged wishes to concede or cancel the challenge, this will be recorded as a forfeit to the challenger. The challenged player will drop one position below the challenger and may not issue a challenge to any other player for 2 days.
If a player does not make themselves available to play, refuses a challenge from a player below, refuses to
finish a match or is more than 20 minutes late in attending an agreed match without making contact with
their opponent, then he or she forfeits the match. If a scheduled match cannot be played because both players accept the weather conditions are unsuitable,
then it must be played within a further 5 days. If a match is unfinished due to bad weather the match should be re-started at the score when it was stopped. If more than 5 days goes by before it can be restarted players must delete this score and play the match from the start again.
If a player is unable to accept challenges due to illness or injury, or due to a scheduled holiday, then that
player’s position in the ladder may be suspended for 14 days. Email us if you need to do this. In this time the player may be moved down the ladder as players below will still be able to challenge 2 places above them. Anyone joining after the ladder has started operating will be added to the bottom of the ladder.
